NO APE-OLOGY
No Ape-ology is a new project that seeks to shed light on the myriad challenges confronting individuals in contemporary society, including but not limited to the impact of poverty, homelessness, crime, and the prevalence of mental and physical health issues. Through the ingenious use of apes as a medium, the project endeavours to offer a fresh and accessible perspective on these pressing issues, employing humour as a tool to engage and connect with a wide audience. By leveraging the relatable and endearing nature of apes, the project aspires to foster a greater understanding of these challenges and spark meaningful conversations around them. Through its unique and engaging approach, the Ape Project aims to serve as a catalyst for positive change, empathy, and awareness in society.
Grandad
Grandad is a wise old ape who has seen it all before
Ash McBurnham
Ash is a hero firefighter who is becoming disillusioned in his job. He is increasingly being called out to jobs that are a result of people on the edge of surviving such as a young couple who couldn’t afford their gas so were using an old camp stove to cook and this got knocked over and started a fire. He also has had the devastating task of dealing with poor monkeys’ who have ended their lives by jumping in front of trains or hanging themselves.
Dr. Grump
Dr. Grump is a rapper and business man with a dubious past. He is reformed and uses his experience to help other young monkeys to not fall in with the wrong crowd like the Macaques.
49 Pence
49 Pence is another rapper. He cannot cope with life as he is an undiagnosed neurodivergent who doesn’t fit in and gets into trouble a lot.
Judge Banna
Judge Banna tries to understand what these monkeys are struggling with but sometimes he has no choice but to bang em up.
PC Tan
Pc Tan is a good cop. He is firm but fair – likes to see the good in people but believes in stamping out trouble early before it gets out of hand. Some people call him old fashioned.
Officer Kinsman
Rogue police officer, and member of the gorillas, on secondment from the United States. Likes to ride a motorbike and use his status as a police officer to abuse people especially the Orangutans.
Finnegan “Fundie” Grimes
Finnegan is 57 and is very well educated. He suffers from paranoid schizophrenia (apparently) and has spent the past 14 years travelling on foot looking for God and helping people along the way. Once when asked if he was hungry he said, “There’s always food to eat, you don’t have food, you lazy.” However lately he has become very tired and increasingly concerned that he will be arrested for smelling bad if the new Criminal Justice Bill is passed. Because homelessness is a ‘lifestyle choice’.

Staff Nurse Payne
Staff Nurse Payne is a unique character who challenges stereotypes with her grumpy yet caring nature – she lifts the spirits of her patients and colleagues during very difficult and stressful times. She is often heard saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but a banana a day keeps the laughter in play!”

Dr. Justin Case
Dr Justin Case seen here after treating an absyss on a homeless monkey’s arm. It got a bit messy when he burst it and blood sprayed on his coat. Justin volunteers his time to help homeless and drug addicted monkeys in addition to working his day job as an A&E consultant.
